The 2023 Knoxville School Board election race will be contested.
There are six candidates running for three school board seats. The list of candidates includes Larissa Van Donselaar, Dave Smith, Cheri Gerdes, Jyl DeJong, Brian Slykhuis, and Susan Swartzendruber. The election filing period ended Thursday at 5:00 pm. The 2023 school and city elections for Marion County will be on Tuesday, November 7th. Marion County Auditor Jake Grandia talked about the importance of being able to voice your opinion during election time.
“I always encourage people to take advantage of the process. It’s a precious thing that we have and have the ability to do that. We take it very seriously here. We don’t have the opportunity to vote very often so it is that chance to voice your opinion.”
