The PCM football team will travel to La Porte City Monday to take on the Union Community Knights in a make-up game after Friday night’s scheduled contest was rained out.
The game will start at 6:00 pm. The Mustangs are now 2-2 on the season and 1-0 in the district after an impressive 50-7 victory over Jesup last week. In the victory, junior running back Adrein Robbins had a monster game, rushing for 192 yards on 15 carries and three touchdowns. The experienced PCM offensive line that has returned all five starters from last year continues to get a big push up front to create holes for the Mustang offense. The Mustang defense impressed last week, only giving up 7 points and they continued to be anchored by junior Finn Wilson, who now has 29.5 tackles on the season.
PCM will now travel two hours away to La Porte City to face an unfamiliar opponent. The Mustangs and the 0-4 Knights have never played in the Bound era. Union is coming off a tough 28-20 loss to Iowa Falls-Alden last week and will look to give PCM all they can handle tonight. PCM Head Football Coach Greg Bonnett said Union’s defensive scheme is comparable to his team.
“Union, they’re pretty diverse in what they do offensively and then on defense they’re just a real solid unit. Their defense looks a lot like ours in terms of how they align with their defensive lineman. They play some different coverages but they are a squeeze and spill defense which is exactly what we are.”
Tonight’s game between PCM and Union can be heard live on 92.1 KRLS with the pregame starting at 5:30.
