The Knoxville School Board approved a new bus driver incentive proposal at their meeting Monday night.
The incentive program is designed to help with Knoxville’s shortage of bus drivers by offering bonuses to new applicants who are hired and to current employees for referral hirings. The board approved the KCSD Lau Plan, which is designed to meet the needs of English learning students. They also accepted a quote of $88,823 from Site Services for asbestos abatement at the old middle school building and a quote of $74,789 from Finish Line Concrete for concrete work as part of the Randy Wilson track renovation project.
The school board also approved the hirings of Chris Peden as the new high school softball coach, Kyle Pepper as an assistant high school girls basketball coach, and Melissa Hermsen for the high school and middle school mock trail teams.
