The Indianola defense held Boone to just 41 yards of total offense as they defeated the Toreadors 35-0 as heard live on 94.3 KNIA Friday evening. Running back Jake Pontier found the end zone from three yards out in the first quarter to lead 7-0, then Andrew DeWall scored twice from the one yard line to grow the lead to 21-0 at the break. DeWall again found paydirt from five yards out in the third, followed by an Ethan McDonald score to get to running clock and the final tally.
Head coach Eric Kluver tells KNIA Sports the first half third-down conversions the team converted was huge for their mindset.
“Out of the first I believe we were 3-3, and they were all huge passes to move the chains on third and long. That just shows the confidence our guys have and the development they are making, and that is going to be critical moving forward.”
Pontier had 145 yards on 21 carries and a score, while DeWall had 66 rushing yards and three scores. Indianola improves to 4-2, and has a crucial game against North Polk on the road next Friday.
