The #2 Indianola volleyball team went 3-2 at the highly competitive Urbandale Invitational on Saturday, while the Indians boys cross country team placed 15th at the Wartburg High School Invite.
The Indians volleyball team won three of their first four contests in Urbandale, going 2-0 (23-21, 21-14) over Sioux City North, 2-0 (21-16, 21-18) over Des Moines Roosevelt, and 2-1 (25-23, 17-25, 15-13) over class 3A #1 Western Christian, before falling to #3 in class 5A Waukee Northwest 1-2, (19-21, 21-17, 13-15). The Indians then advanced to the semifinals of the tournament, where they fell against #8 in class 5A Johnston 0-2 (22-25, 23-25) in a close matchup. The Indians fall to 24-4 on the season, and play at Pella on the road in a Little Hawkeye Conference matchup on Tuesday.
The Indians boys cross country team scored 445 team points in their competition at Wartburg, with Reed Robbins placing 32nd, Paxton Bloom in 52nd, and Sam Appel in 62nd as their top three finishers. The boys will join the girls team for a trip to Fort Dodge on Thursday.
