The Knoxville Municipal Airport hosted the Knoxville Airshow and Family Festival on Saturday.
The family festival kicked off the event with a petting zoo, bounce houses, flight simulator, photo booth, plane train, rock climbing wall, and more. Following the family festival, members of the Des Moines Skydivers club and Knoxville Mayor Brian Hatch took part in the airshow by skydiving. The KNIA/KRLS Big Red Radio was also at the event on Saturday. After his first time skydiving, Hatch said it was a surreal experience.
“I don’t even know what to say, it was just sensory overload. There was just so much going on, it was so much fun. I can’t believe it. It was a great time, they took care of me. It was a great jump and such a great view, I’m just at a loss for words. It was so much fun.”
The Knoxville Airshow and Family Festival concluded with a concert by “The Nadas” featuring Neva Alden.
