Pella Christian’s Chloe Huisman etched her name into the record books Saturday, as the Eagles went 3-2 at the Greene County Volleyball Tournament.
Huisman eclipsed the 2,000 career assists mark, becoming the all-time leader at Pella Christian as just a junior with 2,018. In pool play, the Eagles dropped their first match 2-0 against South Hardin, falling in both sets 21-19. The Eagles bounced back with a pair of 2-1 victories over Stanton (21-15, 19-21, 15-13) and Nodaway Valley (21-16, 18-21, 15-6) to finish off pool play. Pella Christian opened bracket play with a 2-1 win over the host Rams (19-21, 21-16, 15-6), before being swept 2-0 by Carlisle (21-16, 21-15) in the semifinals to end the day. Huisman posted 93 assists throughout the five matches, while Maggie Heinen and Addison Bandstra had 25 and 24 kills respectively.
The Eagles improved to 13-14 overall on the season with their 3-2 showing at Greene County and now off until Monday, October 9th when they host Dallas Center-Grimes.
