The Central College football team heads to Dubuque today to battle Loras, hoping to wipe a bad taste out of its mouth from last fall.
The Dutch have a 35-8-1 record in the all-time series against the Duhawks, but Loras rallied for a 38-35 upset victory last year in Pella. Central coach Jeff McMartin says that’s been a hot topic of conversation leading into today’s game.
“Players have said ‘yeah, we got embarrassed last year’, but a lot of the embarrassment was self-inflicted. We didn’t just get steamrolled, we made mistakes. Give them credit, they forced us into some of those mistakes, but we made mistakes to lose that game, and that’s a hard way to lose a football game. We want to correct that and we want to give Loras our best effort.”
The Dutch enter today’s game with a 4-1 record, 2-1 in the American Rivers Conference, while Loras is 2-2 and 1-1.
Kickoff is at 1pm today at the Rock Bowl in Dubuque and Trevor Castle and Don DeWaard will call the action live on 92.1 KRLS, beginning with pregame coverage at 12:35.
