The Pleasantville football team is hosting the Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont Rockets tonight for Senior Night.

The Trojans are 3-3 on the season and 1-2 in the district after a commanding 39-0 victory over Colfax-Mingo last week. New starting quarterback for the Trojans Braylon Bingham has found success in his new role, and senior running back Caleb Cook continues putting together an impressive 2023 campaign. Cook has 13 touchdowns on the season which ranks third in all of class 1A, and ranks second for all-purpose yards with 1,223.

Pleasantville is now looking for their second district win of the year tonight, a game which may ultimately decide who will finish third in the district. The Rockets are coming off an impressive 52-6 victory over Cardinal last week and they are led by senior running back Landon Glosser who has averaged over eight yards a carry this season. Pleasantville Head Coach Mack Jorth talked about the challenges the Rockets offense will present.

“They do a good job of running a veer attack. Option football is always challenging, and stressful to a defense so we just have been really stressing our responsibilities and make sure we know where we’re supposed to address the challenges they’re trying to present to us. Their tailback is good. Their quarterback is quite a runner as well. Their fullback is a thumper, and they have a good receiver out there as well. They have athletes we have to be ready for, and it is going to present a challenge we have to address, and attack, and play up to our capabilities.”

Tonight’s game against the Rockets starts at 7:00 pm.
