Indianola Football in Crucial District Matchup with North Polk
The Indianola football team battles North Polk tonight in a crucial district matchup for both teams. The Indians are 2-0 in district play after dispatching Ballard and Boone, while the #6 Comets were upset last week by #9 Ballard, and both teams still have #1 ADM on their district schedule. The Comets are a balanced offense, averaging nearly 200 yards passing and 140 yards rushing, while the Indianola defense gives up just over 14 points per game this season. Head coach Eric Kluver tells KNIA Sports the Indians defense has been their best performer so far this season, but the offense will need to produce in order to win.
“It’s going to be important that our offense scores points. When we score 20-plus points we are usually in pretty good shape because we have a lot of confidence in our defense. We feel that we can slow teams down, not necessarily shut them out but slow them down, so play great defense, score some points offensively, and be rock solid in our special teams.”
The game can be heard live on 94.3 KNIA, with Andrew Swadner and Rick Wilson on the call. Pregame coverage begins at 6:30pm, kickoff is at 7pm.
