Pella Christian’s football team jumped out to a 43-0 nothing halftime lead and won by the same score over Cardinal last night in a game heard live on KRLS2.
Cooper Spronk scored on each of the Eagles first two drives, one on the ground and one through the air, then Trevor Veenstra found the end zone one play after a blocked punt and P.C. led 22-0 after the first quarter.
In the second frame, Benny Schriz and Noah Nunnikhoven’s touchdown runs were sandwiched around Veenstra’s 51-yard catch-and-run TD and the Eagles put the running clock on. Coach Rich Kacmarynski was pleased with his team’s performance.
“You know, obviously coming back on a rebound from Sigourney-Keota last week, I thought our guys were sharp”, Kacmarynski said afterwards. “We started the game well on both sides of the ball, got an early lead and kind of took it from there.”
Pella Christian’s defense held Cardinal to just three yards and zero first downs in the first half, and allowed just 81 yards for the game. The Eagles racked up 284 yards, with 197 coming on the ground.
P.C. is now 5-2 on the season and 3-1 in district play and they’ll wrap up the regular season next Friday night at Colfax-Mingo.
