The Knoxville Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting for Leighton State Bank’s new Knoxville branch at Wednesday’s open house.
Community members came out to celebrate the new branch located on the north side of the Knoxville square and received tours of the facility. Leighton State Bank started in 1911 as Farmers Savings Bank in Leighton. In addition to the Leighton location, the bank now has branches in Knoxville, Pella, and Monroe. The Knoxville branch will eventually have a new location on Highway 14. Knoxville Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Nathan Sage says the bank coming to Knoxville is great for the community.
“I think it’s something we’ve talked about for a while now. It shows that people are wanting to come to Knoxville. Businesses are wanting to come to Knoxville. Banks wouldn’t be opening shops if it wasn’t that exciting time of bringing people to Knoxville. It’s great being able to celebrate them. I know eventually their plan is to open a more permanent location but to have this location on the square in downtown Knoxville serves well for them and will be great for the community.”
Leighton State Bank’s Knoxville branch is located at 207 E Main St.
