The Knoxville Hormel plant presented $5,000 checks to both the Helping Hands Food Pantry and the Knoxville Senior Center Wednesday morning. 

The checks were provided as Hormel’s efforts to fight hunger in the community, and make sure that nobody in Marion County is without a meal. Helping Hands puts together groceries for those in need throughout the county, and provides holiday gift baskets each year that include a turkey for Thanksgiving and a ham for Christmas. The Knoxville senior center provides daily meals on weekdays for the senior community in town. Knoxville Hormel Plant Manager Pat Kranz is happy his company can step up and help curb hunger in the community.

“As a company we want to recognize the hunger needs in the communities that the plants are in. As a company we donated the $5,000 to helping hands and the Iowa food bank, and the Knoxville Senior Center to try and do what we can as a community project. It’s not just in Knoxville. It’s in the 39 locations that Hormel has plants in to try and curb hunger in the community.”

Hormel provides donations to different organizations in the community year round.
