The Melcher-Dallas Coal Miners Committee has rebranded to the Melcher-Dallas Community Enrichment Committee.
The Coal Miners Committee was established in 2011 with the intent to bring back and provide the Coal Miners’ Days and preserve the history of coal mining in the area. Angie Lepley with the Enrichment Committee says that the Coal Miners Committee had served its purpose and the rebrand will allow the non-profit organization to better serve the community beyond just the one event.
“Accomplishing those goals, we still wanted to have growth as far as our service. So, this kind of evolved into the need for growth in serving the community. This year, we decided to make a change and move forward with a new direction that will allow us to do that. Instead of concentrating on one event, we will be able to have several events and fundraisers to focus on the needs of the community.”
To celebrate the rebrand, the Melcher-Dallas Community Enrichment Committee will be hosting their first annual fall meet and greet event on Saturday from 9 am-2 pm. Hear more about the Enrichment Committee and the meet and greet event from Angie Lepley on today’s In Touch with South Central Iowa.
