Beggars Nights throughout Marion and Warren Counties will take place over the weekend into early next week and local law enforcement wants residents to be safe during the festivities. Marion County Sheriff Jason Sandholdt says that those participating in trick or treating should stay in well lit areas and use crosswalks to help ensure their safety.

“There’s a lot of people that do want to participate in it that will have their porch lights on, those ones that are dark, maybe they don’t. So, going to those well lit areas is just smart in general. And then zigzagging in and out of cars or something, go to the crosswalks, go to those areas where there’s a stop sign or a stoplight before crossing the road. It makes it that much safer and usually those intersections are lit up a lot more than maybe a long stretch down a roadway, it’s very important to do that. ”
