The Knoxville Chamber of Commerce announced the nomination of seven individuals interested in joining the Knoxville Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.

The nominations mark a step forward for the Chamber, as it continues to build a foundation to support the local business community and foster community pride throughout Knoxville. The nominees include Jim Baker with Leighton State Bank, Perry Hager with Fareway, Ashley Kline with Chasing Positivity, Douglas Gay with Hy-Vee, Katherine Shawver with Knoxville Aviation, Kelly Mitchell with Des Moines Area Community College, and Robert Poppe with Marion County Bank.

Knoxville Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Nathan Sage says that each nominee brings a wealth of experience and a unique perspective that will contribute to the Chamber’s vision for the future.

“I think it’s great. I talked to the board we have now about how much interest we have had in it. It seems like they haven’t had this much interest in a long time. It shows, and some of the people who put their nomination paperwork in have even stated that this shows what the chamber is doing and what the city is doing, is an exciting time, and something that people want to be a part of.”

The election will take place in December and the elected board members will assume their roles in January.
