Today is the day Knoxville Runner Isaac Rankin heads to the State Cross Country Meet. Rankin looks to finish his sophomore season on a high note after having an up and down season. After struggling a bit in the middle portion of this fall, Rankin has peaked at the right time, winning his second straight high school South Central Conference individual title, and qualifying in a loaded field at the State Qualifying meet last week in Pella. Coach Michael Splavec tells KNIA/KRLS Sports this week has been focusing on training the right way, getting enough rest and being fully ready to run the five-K course in Fort Dodge.

Splavec: “Making sure he’s taking a lot of time to stretch, getting enough sleep, that’s what is going to get his legs ready to go. Also just being ready to run and hopefully have a great day up there.”

Rankin will run today at 2:45, listen for results at 92.1 KRLS with Andrew Schneider supplying reports this afternoon, and check back at kniakrls.com for official results.
