The Knoxville Rotary Club will hold a fundraiser on Saturday to help in the effort to end Polio.
The event will be held from 8:00-11:00 am at the entrance of the Knoxville Hy-Vee. Rotary Club members will be collecting donations while Knoxville High School student athletes pedal on stationary bikes to help raise money to try and end polio. Even though polio is not as prominent of disease as it once was, Knoxville Rotary Club Co-President Jake Hughes says that it is still lingering around.
“Polio seems like something that is a very 1950’s disease that is in the distant past, but it is actually still ongoing in some parts of the world and Rotary has been working for decades to help stamp it out for good and this will help.”
The Knoxville Rotary Club has also put a large emphasis on the prevention of human trafficking.
