The WorkSMART Connector is hosting an informational session for parents and students who want to learn more about apprenticeships and other work based learning opportunities.

The meeting will be held in the Pella High School auditorium on Monday from 6:30 to 7:30 pm, and is open to families in the surrounding area and neighboring school districts. Director of the Work-Based Learning Program Teri Vos says that initially the event will begin with a large group meeting, before going into smaller breakout sessions, where students can learn more about a specific interest they may have.

“Students can go to their area of interest and talk to students who are in the program, talk to the employers where students can go get work based learning experiences, and to some of the instructors as well. So, if there are students interested in hospitality and culinary arts, or patient care, IT, construction trades, welding, manufacturing technologies, or early childhood education, all of those breakout areas will have students and employers and instructors who can tell them a little bit more about it.”
