The Knoxville City Council approved the submission of the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Downtown Facade Grant Application at their meeting Monday night.
This is an application requesting grant funds as an ongoing effort to improve building facades for the Knoxville downtown revitalization project. A public hearing was held, and Knoxville Economic Development Director Glenn Lyons gave details about the grant, and the process available. Alsoat the meeting, the board approved the designation of certain parts of the downtown community as a blighted area, which was required to move forward with the CDBG application.
The council also approved a resolution terminating an agreement between the City of Knoxville, Marion County, and the Marion County Fair Board, and they approved the 2023 community and housing needs assessment.
