The Indianola volleyball team graduates three impactful seniors from their class 4A state runner-up finish last year in Tori Runyan, Macy Wente, and Brynn Bishop. Runyan served as the lone setter for the team, and was second in the state and led class 4A with 1,106 assists. Bishop was a top defensive player, third on the team in digs with 256, and Wente was fourth on the team in kills with 159.
Head coach Kent Halstead said the stats on the court will be a loss, but their contributions off the court are impossible to replace.
“I would just say the relationship our coaching staff has with them and the other players. That’s the toughest thing to replace as people, because we are going to miss them. Volleyball wise we are certainly going to miss them, but the type of people they are trumps that. So that’s what I’m going to miss the most, just hanging out with those three in the gym.”
The Indians bring back top kill leaders Camryn Overton, Aspen Nelson, and Makenzie Sloan, and digs leader in Maci Lerseth.
