Helping Hands Food Pantry in Knoxville is in need of Thanksgiving turkey and Christmas ham donations.
The food pantry and thrift store assembles holiday baskets each year for Thanksgiving and Christmas that they deliver to families in need. Anyone can stop into Helping Hands, located at 110 W Main St. in Knoxville, to sign up to receive a holiday basket. The holiday gift baskets will then be delivered directly to the individual who signed up. However, the holiday gift baskets are not possible without donations from the community. Helping Hands encourages everyone to stop in on either Monday, Wednesday, or Fridays from 9:00 am-3:00 pm to drop off a turkey, ham, or monetary donation ahead of the holiday season. Helping Hands Director Chuck Galeazzi says his desire is to make sure everyone in the community doesn’t go without food.
“Helping Hands has always raised their hand to help make sure everyone has food. Our food days are the second and fourth Monday of the month, but you can come to Helping Hands any Monday, Wednesday, and Friday to get food. Every community should have something like this, where people can come if they’re down and out.”
