Central College tied a school record with nine touchdown passes as the Dutch earned a season-ending 69-14 victory over Simpson in a game heard live on 92.1 KRLS and 94.3 KNIA.

Hunter Hoffman and Brady Ketchum each tossed three touchdowns in the first half as Central built a 41-7 lead at intermission. Four of those first half TDs, two from each quarterback, went to senior wide receiver Ryan Neu who caught five passes for 191 yards.

Dutch coach Jeff McMartin says that it was an all-around impressive performance from an offense that racked up 662 yards.

“Guys made great catches. We had some really, really great catches that our receivers made. It was nice to see what our quarterbacks can do and they did a good job of getting different guys the ball.”

The Dutch hadn’t had a 100-yard receiver this season, but both Neu and Logan Mont went over that mark in the first half. Mont finished the game with eight catches for 124 yards and a score.

Hoffman and Ketchum combined for 23-of-37 passing for 434 yards and eight touchdowns. Reid Pakkebier led the Dutch defense with 11 tackles and two fumble recoveries and safety Cameron Bannister intercepted his team best fifth pass of the season.

Central finished 8-2 and 6-2 in the American Rivers Conference while Simpson ends the 2023 campaign at 3-7 and 2-6.

Simpson wide receiver Reed Worth led the team with 135 receiving yards and a touchdown, and in the process broke the school record for most receiving yards in a career. Worth previously broke the school record for career touchdowns, making him the most prolific receiving in program history.
