The Knoxville School Board set a public hearing date regarding the sale of property for the site of a potential Kwik Star convenience store coming to Knoxville.
The location is on the corner of West Pleasant and Highway 14, which is land owned by the Knoxville Community School District. If eventually approved, the land is being proposed to be sold to Kwik Trip, INC for $400,000. Kwik Trip stores in Iowa are named Kwik Stars due to branding competition with an already existing company. The public hearing was set for November 27th, along with public hearings for the bleacher project at Randy Wilson Track and the demolition of the old middle school.
The school board also received a presentation from Superintendent Cassi Pearson and Business Manager Craig Mobley regarding budget projections for upcoming school years. It was stated at the meeting that the school district must cut $725,000 to get back to break even spending.
