The Marion County Board of Supervisors accepted a resolution directing the acceptance of a proposal to purchase $2.5 million in bonds to fund the Pleasantville Adkins Project.

The Adkins property development will be on 36.5 acres of land west of Pleasantville, and will include five commercial properties and residential areas. The county will help fund the project with $2.5 Million in general obligation capital notes. At the next meeting, the board will authorize loan documents related to the bonds, which will be the final action on the bonding. Marion County Board of Supervisors Member Mark Raymie is happy with the progress on this large-scale development.

“Not where we were for the VA certainly but better results than we anticipated. This will certainly be good for the community of Pleasantville.”

Also at the meeting, there was a public hearing held regarding a rural parcel of land owned by Marilyn Rice, approval for appointments of the Board of Supervisors Compensation Board Committee members, and agreement for 2024 Marion County lobbying services. Marion
County Engineer Tyler Christian spoke at the end of the meeting about the Highway G28 community project funding agreement, which was approved by the board.
