While their first game is just over a week away, the Pella Christian boys basketball team is excited to get the season underway.

The Eagles return a majority of their team that reached the Class 2A semifinals last year and bring back six of their top eight scorers. While most of the team remains intact from last winter, Pella Christian head coach JD Boer says that doesn’t mean there won’t be opportunities for guys to step into new roles and even into the lineup.

“For guys that weren’t necessarily in the rotation, didn’t see minutes, they’re gonna have opportunities to compete for them, maybe guys who did are going to have to work for those spots. This isn’t a situation where we say hey let’s run it back and do what we did last year. We lost some really important pieces to that team and our players have developed and changed both physically and skill wise. So, putting the pieces of the puzzle together is a completely unique thing every year and it’s one of the things I really enjoy. And we won’t figure that out in the next two weeks, it is a year-long process, but I’m looking forward to working with the guys on that.”

The Eagles boys basketball begins the 2023-2024 season on Tuesday, November 28th in the back half of a doubleheader at Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont.
