Helping Hands Food Pantry in Knoxville is in need of turkey donations ahead of Thanksgiving on Thursday.
The food pantry and thrift store assembles holiday baskets each year for Thanksgiving and Christmas that they deliver to families in need. Anyone can stop into the food pantry to sign up to receive a holiday basket, which will be delivered directly to the individual who signed up. The baskets are not possible without donations from the community. Helping Hands encourages the community to drop off a turkey, ham, or monetary donation ahead of the holiday season. Helping Hands Director Chuck Galeazzi says his desire is to make sure no one in the community goes without food.
“Helping Hands has always raised their hand to help make sure everyone has food. Our food days are the second and fourth Monday of the month, but you can come to Helping Hands any Monday, Wednesday, and Friday to get food. Every community should have something like this, where people can come if they’re down and out.”
There are no requirements that need to be met to receive a holiday basket.
