Stepping Stones Early Learning Center has continued to raise funds for their “STEP UP” capital campaign with a $50,000 donation from the Weiler Foundation.

“This Thanksgiving, we are especially thankful to the Weiler Foundation for their donation of $50,000. In addition to this generous financial contribution, Weiler has “STEPPED UP” in a big way and more broadly supported Knoxville by engaging in research and advocacy for additional long-term solutions to stabilize and improve area child care.” says Erika Pleggenkuhle, Stepping Stones Early Learning Center Board President.

Stepping Stones has supported and served hundreds of area families since the closing of the VA Child Care center in 2005.

“The Weiler family is invested in the success of the community of Knoxville and recognizes that Stepping Stones is a vital part of the local economic infrastructure. From a workforce perspective, child care, or the lack thereof, can absolutely play a key role in employee recruitment, retention, & productivity, ” said Chief Financial
Officer and General Counsel of Weiler, Megan Weiler Green.

Stepping Stones Early Learning Center is asking for the local businesses and community members to continue to “STEP UP” for Stepping Stones and help them to reach their goal of $600,000. The funds raised, given in connection with the capital campaign, will be used to eliminate mortgage payments for the center and allow those funds to be redirected towards ongoing costs and improvements.
