The Knoxville Dance Team will compete at the State Dance Championships in Des Moines on Friday.
The Panthers will compete in Jazz at 11:14am, Pom at 2:58pm, and Prop at 4:55pm. The 48th annual Iowa High School and College State Dance Team Championships will feature 25 college teams and 251 high school teams. Organized by the Iowa State Dance Team Association (ISDTA), the annual event will have more than 650 routines and also have 140 finalists competing in the first-ever ISDTA Solo Finals competition. Knoxville Dance Team Coach Devin Dunkin is excited for her team to perform after all the hard work they have put in, and encourages the community to come out and support the Panthers.
“I know they’re nervous and I have those same nerves but also I’ve seen how far they’ve progressed, and I know how well they’re going to do. Having all of that support and when you’re on the dance floor and hear people cheering for you it just ups it so much so just having that support would mean the world to all of us.”
The State Dance Championships will be held at Wells Fargo Arena, Hy-Vee Hall, and the Community Choice Convention Center November 29th-December 1st.
