In a battle for bragging rights along Highway 163, the Pella Christian and PCM girls basketball teams will compete in Monroe tonight.

The Eagles enter the contest at 1-2 on the season, after falling to Class 2A #2 ranked Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont 63-52 on Tuesday night. Meanwhile, the Mustangs have been off since Tuesday, November 21st, when they defeated Knoxville 48-38 to improve to 1-1 on the year. In the Bound era, Pella Christian and PCM have each won nine contests, with the Mustangs tying the series last season with a 61-40 victory. Following Tuesday night’s loss to a ranked Rockets team, Eagles head coach Brendan Foughty said his team will need to take better care of the basketball.

“We’ve got to value the basketball. We’ve got to take care of it, not give other people extra possessions, extra opportunities. We’ve got to win all the 50/50 balls and dominate on the glass, which we certainly have the ability to do with our athleticism and length around the rim. So, we’re gonna keep getting better and we’re gonna keep showing up with the confidence to win each game. ”

Coverage of tonight’s girls basketball game between Pella Christian and PCM in Monroe can be heard live on 92.1 KRLS, beginning with the Scooter’s Coffee Radio Pregame Show at 7 pm.
