A former All-State Football Player earned postseason recognition from the Big Ten. Nick DeJong was a third-team All-Conference selection for the Iowa Hawkeyes, as voted on by the league’s coaches in 2023. DeJong has started six games for the Hawkeyes this year. Nick was a First Team All-State selection for Pella in the 2018 football season and a Class 3A state shot put champion in 2019. DeJong and #18 Iowa will compete against #2 Michigan in the Big Ten Championship game this Saturday at 7 p.m.
