The three-time defending Class 3A state jazz champions open their winter season of performances and competitions this week. Pella Jazz I opens with a concert at 7:30 this evening in the Pella High School auditorium. This will be followed by a qualifying event for the Iowa Jazz Championships as Pella travels to Winterset for the South Central Iowa Bandmasters Association jazz festival on Saturday.
