Area high school dancers performed at the Iowa State Dance and Drill Team Association State Championship in Des Moines last week.

The Pleasantville Dance Team was crowned a State Champion for their Class II Novelty routine, Finding Bigfoot, and were also awarded a Judge’s Choice Award for that performance. They also took fifth place in Class I Color Guard, sixth place in Class VI Pom, and soloist Addison Wall finished in eighth place in the Class I Color Guard Solos.

The Pella Christian Shine Dance Team brought home a pair of fifth place finishes and received Division I ratings for their routines in Class VII Pom and Class II Lyrical.

The Norwalk Dance team finished in the top three in all three categories they performed in, taking second place in Class XII Pom and third place in Class III Lyrical and Class VII Hip Hop. Additionally, Norwalk soloist Elsie Johnson placed 10th in Class IX Dance. 

The PCM Dance Team finished in the top three of all three of their routines at State, taking second place in Class V Hip Hop and third place in Class I Prop and Class IX Pom. 

The Southeast Warren Dance Team received Division I ratings for all three of their performances in Class II Hip Hop, Class III Pom, and Class I Lyrical, and received a Distinguished Academic Award for their combined grade point average.
