The Knoxville City Council approved the site plan for the new Marion County Bank branch building at their meeting Monday night.
The new building will be at 1005 W Pleasant St., where the current drive thru branch is located. The proposed development will include a 1,123-square foot building offering walk-in banking services, three covered drive-up lanes (two teller and one ATM), and onsite parking for five vehicles. The site’s existing concrete drive will be retained for access to the onsite parking and drive-up lanes. Knoxville City Manager Heather Ussery says Marion County Bank is planning to leave their current drive up branch operational during the construction.
“Marion County Bank is hoping to keep the current building open as long as possible, and not interrupt any services. The new bank branch will sit further back more on the northwest corner of the property. After that is constructed they will make a determination of what they want to do with the former building, but as far as bank services they are hoping to keep those uninterrupted for as long as possible throughout the construction process.”
