The Norwalk Community School District Office is set to be remodeled in the coming months.
The board of directors voted to move forward with the project in mid-November and bids will be taken from December 21st through January 9th. A public hearing date for those bids has been set for January 15th, 2024, and the anticipated cost of the project is $1,000,000. The project will include a 1,450 square foot board room, nine additional office spaces, and will bring the district’s business department into the same building as the rest of the district office staff. Norwalk Superintendent Shawn Holloway says that they have outgrown the current building and that the project became necessary to accommodate the district’s growth.
“Right now for Norwalk, space is at a premium. If you’d tour the office, you’d see a lot of offices that have three to four people in them, with very little conference room space. If we have any visitors at a board meeting it’s super tight, and so just a lot of reasons to try to make this project happen.”
The remodel is anticipated to be complete in the Fall of 2024. Hear more about the project from Shawn Holloway on an upcoming In Touch with South Central Iowa.
