The Marion County Roads Department wants to remind residents of the county’s policies regarding snow removal.
Snow from private driveways shall not be placed on the roadway or shoulders and the county will not clear snow from private driveways. Drivers are also encouraged to reduce their speed to accommodate for the conditions of area roadways during or after a snow event. Additionally, Marion County Engineer Tyler Christian says that the county is not liable for any mailboxes damaged or knocked down by the force of the snow thrown from a county plow.
“One thing that we like to remind folks of is snow that hits a mailbox and knocks it over we will not replace, but if we accidentally hit one with a plow or a truck my backing into it or something like that, we will replace that.”
