The Pella and Knoxville communities came together to help others on top of competing in basketball Tuesday.
Raceway Tire and Exhaust brought back their traditional tire roll as the boys and girls teams returned to a varsity doubleheader. Local veterans teamed up with students from the schools to raise $5,600, to be split evenly in support of Dutch and Panthers athletics programs.
Additionally, Raceway Tire and Exhaust acquired a special flag that was displayed between games, with help from the Pella wrestling team as both schools honored local veterans.
Crossroads of Pella reports two vehicle loads worth of toys were collected as part of the toy shelf program by fans from both the Dutch and Panthers programs — those toys are available to any Marion County family in need. Those who need assistance should stop into or call Crossroads of Pella at 628-1212 from 10 a.m. to noon and 1-4 p.m. today through Friday.
