The Pella boys and girls basketball teams are hoping to keep up winning streaks heading into the new year with a doubleheader at home against Oskaloosa.

Pella’s 4-3 boys have won three in a row and the newly-14th ranked in 4A girls have five consecutive victories. In the opener, the Dutch (7-2 overall, 1-1 in the LHC) take on a 6-2 Oskaloosa team that most recently knocked off previously #2 in 2A Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont. Led by Dasia Foster and her 18.3 points and 14.5 rebounds per game, the Indians also hung tough with #1 DCG a week ago. Pella’s girls are 28-2 in the all-time series and last lost to Osky in 2012.

The Dutch boys are aiming to take advantage of an Oskaloosa squad (2-6 overall) that has dropped four games in a row, and one that is led by Sophomore Max Roach (18.5 points per game) and Senior Aidan Scholes (12.5 points per game). Senior Romon Hugan says defensive intensity will remain the biggest key for the team going forward in having continued success in the Little Hawkeye Conference.

Coverage of tonight’s twin bill at Pella High School begins at 6:00 this evening on 92.1 KRLS and Pella Dutch Live.
