Strong winds were gusting through Marion County on Tuesday as well as the first snowfall of the season. Iowa State Climatologist Harry Hillaker says it’s not really as cold outside as everyone thinks. He says if this were mid-January we would be used to it, but since the weather has been unusually warm for this time of year, it is taking people by surprise. Hillaker adds that it’s important to slow down during this type of weather because often times its the first snowfall that can be the most dangerous.
