The Marion County Historical Society recently hosted their annual Festival of Trees at the Marion County Park. The event featured a silent auction, bake sale, decorated trees, wagon rides and Christmas carols all for a good cause.
Tuesday morning the Historical Society presented the donations collected from the event to Red Rock Area Community Action Program County Coordinator Nancy Hulgan. Included in the donations was a check for $450 along with biscuits, sausage and gravy left over from one of their previous events and 3 large boxes of food donated from General Mills in Carlisle to County Coordinator Nancy Hulgan.
2010 Festival of Trees Chair Linda Brooks says it’s great to be able to give back to members of the community who don’t always have much to celebrate during the holidays.
The donations will be used to send Christmas baskets full of necessary items to 75 different elderly residents throughout Marion County.
