The Marion County Iowa State University Extension and Outreach office in Knoxville will hold a beekeeping basics class later this month.
Beekeeping can be a hobby, a profitable side venture, or a full time occupation. Many people keep bees for the fresh honey they produce, for the benefit of being pollinators, or for enjoyment. This two-hour course on January 29th at 6:00 pm, will feature ISU Agriculture Specialist Zack Koopman, and will teach the basics of beekeeping and help attendees decide if beekeeping is right for them.
To register, call the Marion County Extension office at 641-842-2014 or email Lydia Dingeman at dingeman@iastate.edu. The cost for the program is $5 and will be used to offset direct expenses and support the agriculture and natural resources county extension program.
