With the potential for a snow system coming to south central Iowa next week, the Iowa Department of Transportation wants to remind residents to be safe on the roadways. 

Winter Operations Administrator Craig Bargfrede says that their website, 511IA.org, is the best source for the public to use when planning travel during snow events.

“511 is our best source of information for road conditions and getting a good sense of what’s happening on the system currently, by being able to look at plow cam photos from the perspective of our trucks that are out currently operating across the system. It’s excellent information and a good source of getting an idea of whether or not I should make that trip or maybe postpone that trip to a later date.”
