Central College defensive back Cameron Bannister was honored as part of the elite AFCA Good Works Team at halftime of the Allstate Sugar Bowl in New Orleans on Monday.
The Allstate AFCA Good Works Team was established in 1992 by the College Football Association, and recognizes the extra efforts made by college football players and student support staff off the field. Bannister is the fifth Central player to receive the award since 1997 and one of only four Division III players cited this year. A two-year team co-captain, he is a three-time second-team all-conference honoree and was a third-team D3football.com all-region pick last year. Bannister is also a four-time academic all-conference honoree and was a CSC Academic All-District Team selection last year.
The Allstate AFCA Good Works Team was made up of 22 players from Divisions I, II, and III.
