Despite the current winter weather conditions, the Knoxville Parks and Recreation Department is excited for the opening of the splash pad in Knoxville’s new Veterans District this spring.

The Parks and Rec department added a new park in the Veterans District that includes swings, state-of-the-art playground equipment, and a splash pad that will be open for use this spring. The Parks and Rec department is looking forward to having the splash pad available for kids to use for water fun over the warm months. Knoxville Parks and Recreation Director Brandon Nemmers says the timing of the splash pad opening will be weather dependent.

“More than likely that splash pad will open early May. We will have to get some kinks worked out to see what the winter did to us there, but we are hoping the temperatures will be good enough in May to get that open and operational.”
