Despite the heavy snowfall that swept through south central Iowa Monday and Tuesday, drought remained unchanged in the latest weekly national report. Just under half of Marion County and all of Warren County, as well as the majority of surrounding communities are considered in extreme drought, the second worst on the scale of the U.S. Drought Monitor Report. The rest of Marion County continues to face severe drought conditions. According to the National Weather Service, no precipitation is in the forecast through the middle of next week.
