The Knoxville City Council met in regular session Monday night.

There was a lengthy discussion among the council regarding the intersection of Main Street and Attica Road in Knoxville. Due to six accidents occurring at that intersection over the last 12 months the board approved the installation of a second stop sign on the northbound approach to the intersection, installation of an overhead flashing beacon warning northbound traffic of the stop ahead, and an agreement to to change the speed limit to 25 mph starting on Washington Street. The speed limit change will be officially approved at the next meeting.

The council then approved the preliminary plans, specifications, form of contract and estimate of cost for the 2023 street improvement project. The meeting concluded with a presentation by City Manager Heather Ussery regarding the public works budget.
