The Heart of Iowa Regional Transport Agency (HIRTA) announced a new partnership with Enterprise earlier this month.
The collaboration aims to strengthen HIRTA’s existing vanpool program, support the employment needs of local businesses and improve the daily commutes of individuals in south central Iowa. The partnership with Enterprise allows HIRTA to expand services, reach more areas, and have the ability to customize routes and schedules that fit the needs of riders. HIRTA Mobility Outreach Coordinator Danny Schnathorst says that partnership for the vanpool program encourages riders to build community, save time, and cut commuting costs.
“The partnership supports our commitment to innovative and sustainable mobility options for residents and employees who travel in or out of our service area. So basically, we would connect employees who live near each other and provide them with a van or SUV. Riders commute together, save money, and free up time to maybe catch up on some work. It’s an easy way to start and end the day in a better mindset.”
