Area high schools participated in the Iowa High School Speech Association District Contest hosted at Pella High School Saturday.

Pella received 16 division “I” ratings from their 21 entries, and those who earned the highest mark advance to state. Click here for full results.

Pella Christian High School had seven of their nine performances receive division I scores.

Ensemble Acting: Little Women: Christmas in Concord – I
Readers’ Theater: Pullman Car Hiawatha – I
Ensemble Acting: Ash Girl – I
Musical Theater: Catch Me If You Can – I
One Act Play: Ordinary People – I
Musical Theater: Little Women – I
Group Improvisation – II
Short Film: Strangers to Allies – II

Pleasantville had 10 of 13 events advance to state:

PCM received two division I scores and those will advance to state:
Ensemble Acting: I Can’t Do This Anymore: Division I
Ensemble Acting: Wine and Marriage: Division I
Group Improv: Team Logan: Division II
Musical Theatre: Legally Blonde: Division II
Musical Theatre: Into the Woods: Division II

Those who qualified for state will next perform on Saturday, February 3rd at Pleasant Valley High School.

Please note – Knoxville and Melcher-Dallas did not have any participants. Results for Twin Cedars were not immediately available.
