On what would have been her sixth birthday, seemingly every corner of Marion County and beyond celebrated the life of a young girl killed in a sledding accident last winter.

Whether it was the hallways of Lincoln Elementary, other schools in Pella and across the area, or various businesses, organizations, and individuals, Milly Zellmer was honored with hundreds of people wearing pink and through the launch of Milly Moments — a timeframe that aims to encourage acts of kindness in her name through February 16th.

The family of Zellmer went out for a meal at Cantarito’s to end the day — the same place they celebrated Milly’s last birthday a year ago, and through various outside donations, they were able to give a tip of more than $4,000 to the staff of the restaurant.
