Four members of the Central College women’s triathlon team were Collegiate Triathlon Coaches Association (CTCA) Scholar All-American honorable mentions and the team was picked as a Scholar All-American Team by the CTCA on Monday.

Grace Benson, Luci Laidlaw, Sophie Lunning and Addie Smith were all CTCA Scholar All-American honorable mentions. Individual Scholar All-American status is given to athletes who finish in the top 20 at the National Championship meet in their division and maintained a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher during the fall semester. Honorable mention is given to any athlete with a 3.5 GPA who competes at the national meet. To earn the team award, programs must have a team GPA of 3.2 during the fall semester. Benson, an undeclared major with a 3.93 GPA in the fall, finished 21st in Division III. Laidlaw, an instrumental music education major with a 4.00 GPA in the fall, finished 27th nationally. Lunning earned a 3.80 GPA as an undeclared major and finished 51st overall, while Smith was 29th and had a 3.61 GPA as an undeclared major.

Central was one of 33 teams to earn the Scholar All-American team honor.
